The "Season of Creation" is the period from September 1 to October 4 each year during which Christian churches around the world come together to pray, reflect on the protection of the global environment, and take action to care for the Earth--our common home. This year, the theme is "Living Water."

The celebration began in 1989 when the Orthodox Church made September 1 a Day of Prayer for Creation. In 2008, the Protestant World Council of Churches joined, followed by the Anglican Communion in 2012, and the Catholic Church in 2015. The season ends on October 4th, the Feast Day of the Saint of Ecology, Francis of Assisi.

At Kwansei Gakuin, we also care about God's creation and the human role in it. It is an opportunity to think about how environmental and social issues are connected and to focus on such topics as climate change, the conservation of biodiversity, poverty, inequality, and our use of resources.

In addition, at Kwansei Gakuin University, relatively clean rainwater collected from the roofs of multiple campuses is filtered through a stainless-steel mesh filter and then stored in rainwater storage tanks for use as toilet flushing water, thereby conserving tap water.
The rainwater storage tanks can also be used as an emergency water supply in the event of a disaster.
